Basingstoke Running Mummies was started in February 2016 by Helen, who wanted to get mums together for some fitness and social interaction - there's no restriction on fitness level or age! It doesn't matter if your baby is six months old or twenty years old!
The group is a warm community of local mums of any age looking to meet other mums, either with or without babies/toddlers in pushchairs to walk, jog and run for fun. Its totally free to join in with the only costs involved being community or charity runs where an entry fee is required.
We occasionally participate in local runs or charity based events. Specific information regarding these as they arise will be shared within the Facebook group.
The group is open to all levels of runners, whether you are a regular runner, returning to running after some time away or totally new. Helen returned to running after being on maternity leave and wanting to loose some baby weight. Some of us started using the couch to 5km plan but in less than one year are now running regular 10km routes. We have some half marathon runners, some who have signed up for the Great South Run and Basingstoke Half Marathon. Lots of our ladies enter 5km and 10km races regularly and some simply use the group to buddy up with others and socially run.
Meet the Team
We are a mere bunch of local mums who all love to run. We've all got our own fitness goals but love running together. The four of us make up the Basingstoke Running Mummies Admin Team. We are here to help keep you safe, come up with running routes, lead runs and help women buddy up and walk, jog or run no matter where you are along your running journey.
Created the group in Feb 2016 to meet other mums and provide running buddies for social, support and safe winter runs. Helen manages the groups weekly events, socials and regularly leads runs.
Joined the group right at the beginning and came on the very first BRM run, in the dark, in the rain and came back for more ! Lorna looks after our BRM Facebook page and leads runs for our beginners.
Joined BRM near the start after her baby was born. Regularly runs and is a keen, warm and welcoming member of our group. Liz helps with group admin and leads runs around Basingstoke.
Joined BRM near the start. Is far fitter than she claims and runs a couple of times a week. Cat helps with group admin and looks out for local and national runs for us to participate in. She occasionally leads runs.
