Boxercise is not just good for mums its GREAT for mums! Ladies if you are able to progress to high impact exercise, you're back at work, maybe the children driving you up the wall, perhaps hubby isnt helping around the house as much as he should, then this is the class for you.
As one of my client puts it so well "I love Boxercise, i have a stressful day at work, a packed train journey home, a toddler into mischief and a husband who left his toenail clippings on the coffee table again, I need to come to this class to hit stuff and i feel so much better"
Boxercise is a boxing for fitness class using boxing gloves or mitts and focus pads. Some instructors also use punch and kick bags. It also incorporates traditional circuit style exercises such as press-ups, squats, skipping, sit ups etc alongside partner work boxing and pad-work.
Games and drills are used to keep your body calorie burning and agile while coaching and boxing with a partner helps build up strength, improve muscle tone and endurance. Correct technique is essential to prevent injury and speed comes with time and practice. Music is also used to give you rhythm to box to and incorporate another fun element to the class.
Focus pads are used and thats the closest you get to actually hitting anyone. The class is considered high energy and fast paced. Boxercise is suitable for absolute beginners and more advanced participants. Your starting fitness level is not an issue as you work at your own pace and speed and are coached to develop your skills and improve your fitness.
This class is suitable for most ladies but there are one or two exceptions. Its essential that you complete a health screening form before coming to a class and sessions must be booked in advance via Gymcatch. Equipment is supplied at the class but you are welcome to bring your own gloves and pads if you'd like to.
The session gives you a great whole body work out and you really do get out what you put in. Classes are lead by a friendly local instructor, Helen. These classes are ladies only, sorry gents. We are all at varying stages of our fitness journeys and come in all shapes and sizes. More importantly, we are all there for the same reasons, to get fit, get the stress and aggression out and have a good laugh.
